Visualising Data with Seaborn & Jupyter Notebooks | Community Showcase | 60 minutes

Seoul
Sat, Oct 16, 2021, 11:00 AM (KST)

18 RSVP'ed

This meet-up is part presentation, part project walkthrough, part community showcase. Using Jupyter Notebooks and Python data visualisation library Seaborn, we will look at a British fisheries dataset and how to visualise the data for further analysis. Afterwards, share your own projects and what you're currently working on during the community showcase section of the meet-up!

About this event

In this meet-up, we will start out by analysing a real-life dataset adapted from data provided by the UK government on Jupyter. Python Pandas and Seaborn will help load and visualise the data and allow us to ask and perhaps attempt to answer questions about the data provided. As we go along, I will also talk about the bugs and issues I encountered along the way and how I solved them - alternative solutions are welcome from your end as you may have better ideas!

In keeping with the Seaborn/nautical/marine theme, the dataset is about sea fishing. Source data here: Monthly Sea Fisheries Statistics August 2021.

Following a presentation and live demo, we will go straight into a community showcase. If you are currently working on a project that is data science, data visualisation or data analysis related, or if you have completed a project in the past, do share your work and your insights! All levels are welcome. 😊

FAQs

How much is this meetup? This is a free meetup hosted by a fellow learner.

Do I have to be a PRO member to participate? You don't have to have a PRO account but you should have at least a free Codecademy account so you can log on to the meetup.

What if I'm late? You can join after the event has started. No stress. You can also check in a few minutes early for a chat with me and your fellow learners. 🙋‍♀️

Do I have to actively be involved? You can participate and keep your camera and mike off or on - completely up to you. Just watching is fine too.

I would like to participate but your time zone (KST, Korean Standard Time) does not work for me. I try to put on meet-ups at all sorts of different times - see past meetups for reference. Do check back from time to time or join the chapter to be notified of new meet-ups. As long as you RSVP, you will receive a link to the meet-up recording for your viewing pleasure, even if you cannot attend in person.

Why are you using Bevy as your virtual meetup platform? Bevy is Codecademy's official meet-up platform. No installation required, no time limit, free to use, allows screen recording, chat. screen sharing, no waiting rooms, no manual admissions or check-ins. It works best on Google Chrome.

Will this meet-up be recorded? The first half (presentation & demo) will be recorded, the community showcase WON'T be as I would like everyone to feel comfortable sharing their pet projects.

I don't like the type of events you're putting on / I don't like beginner-level events / I prefer _____ events. Do leave your ideas for upcoming events in the feedback form.

I would like to share my thoughts and suggestions with you but I don't need a response. Share away via this feedback form!

I still have questions and I need you to respond! Any questions, get in touch via the Contact Us form at the bottom of this page 👇 or on the Seoul chapter page.
