So you have some coding skills under your belt and are ready to find a job as a junior programmer. What tools do you need in your toolbox to get noticed? Knowing how to interview is vital, but you need to get the interview first. A resume can help you land an interview, but it's hard to really distinguish yourself from the competition with a one- or two-page static resume. A programming portfolio can be a great way to set yourself apart.
A candidate's resume is a snapshot of their experience and skills, But the portfolio allows recruiters and hiring managers to see the application of those skills. Resumes are static; a portfolio allows frequent live updating."
- All beginners welcomed! We will be covering all the steps from zero to published portfolio sites in this event.
- More experienced developers: also welcomed. To make new friends, listening in for new ideas, or simply because online events are fun.
- Domestic and international: We are the Sault Ste. Marie City chapter but this is an online event open to anyone anywhere in the world!

Is this hosted by Codecademy?
No. Codecademy chapters are lead and organized by the community. We are learners just like you that want to meet others and have a good time coding together!
Will you review everyone's projects?
No. This is a 1-hour event and we will only have time to go through the event's presentation. But can clear your questions by posting your repo issues on Discord (we always have your back).
Will the presentation slides be available after the event?
Yes. We'll share the link to the slides on our Discord server.
I can't make it but I am interested. What now?
Go to the Sault Ste. Marie Chapter page and join the Discord community! We'll keep everyone updated on upcoming events, and post the video link, in case you can't attend.
What happens if I RSVP for the event but I can't attend?
Don't worry. Attendance is free and voluntary.
We will be hosting our live event online through Google Meet, which is very similar to other online meeting platforms like Zoom. Once you RSVP for the event you will receive an invitation link in your email that will let you join the live event when it starts. The hosts will be using their camera and mics, and you are welcomed to join us. Of course, we will understand if you prefer to keep your video or mic (or both) off and just participate in the live chat. That's fine too!
Once you RSVP you will be prompted with a screen inviting you to "Become a featured attendee". You do NOT need to submit this form in order to attend the event. This is some special Bevy functionality and can be safely ignored.
